This toaster oven works just fine. It’s a good size and does not take up too much counter space. If it was just a little larger in height and had a timer, it would get 5 stars. The timer would certainly come in handy, but it’s not an essential. One thing: I had to send the first one back because of a slight defect on the control panel (the label was partially missing for the Function knob.) Amazon sent me a new one right away. I believe the slight defect was overlooked by the manufacturer, and NOT caused by Amazon’s packing and shipping, but I couldn’t find a matching reason to explain this when I used Amazon’s online return. The second toaster was packed even more thoroughly than the first, but again, I don’t think the issue was with Amazon’s packing, which was quite adequate. They made it right, right away.

I read reviews on so many here on Amazon, and saw how many warned about the heat of these appliances. At first I tried to set it up on a separate counter my husband had originally built for my bread machine, but it became apparent I needed a better spot for it and moved it to my regular 24 inch deep counter over my kitchen cabinets. I feel very safe using it now and found the sides are warm but not scorching hot, the top seems to only get extremely hot when you use it in broil mode. Naturally the glass door would get hot, would you touch your oven window on your range when it is turned on? I wouldn’t. I had it only a short time and bought the:

I bought this to get some idea on how to use the oven to do more than make toast and heat frozen foods.
The book is simple enough and I did find a few recipes that allowed me to get started.
I am glad I got it and ended up ordering another slide rack that I am waiting on.
I have done a casserole, the pecan cauliflower from the book, that my husband and I love and several other items already, I am happy with it.

I have had this toaster oven for several years (?). I liked it so much that I sent two others to friends- especially to a friend who does not use a microwave. It has one major quirk and that is the toasting process. You have to know that it must be set at the 400 degree max and then be careful about the setting for color/toasting. But,if I am in a hurry I use a traditional toaster. I DO like this one for the “Texas” toast and garlic toasts and other oversized toasting breads. Another major plus is for your take-home leftovers. Many of them do not reheat well in the microwave. ALL do so in the toaster oven. It is a quick way to “bake”, “reheat”, etc. in a short period of time and without the cumbersome oven just for some small amount of food. I am single and often cook for myself and maybe one or two guests. Try broiling salmon fillets! Magnificent! Season them minimally and viola! you have tasty fillets in no time at all- salad&fruit and you have a nice meal. I can afford to buy the fancier models, but I have too often fallen victim to excessive gadgets that I NEVER use. The Cuisinart food processor is a good example. Moerover, for so many, you need an at home demonstration or a degree on the product performance. The only reason a gave it a 4 instead of a 5, is because of the toasting issue. However, I do believe that the current price is the highest I have seen for this item. I spent closer to the range. Oh yeah… one last plus… it is one of the only toaster ovens, I’ve found, that has TWO racks.. This is so necessary and I put then to use daily. My T.O. finally gave out (I believe I got my money’s worth!) and I am frantically waiting for the new one so that I can be “back in business”.
